A Lounge for Land & Sea

description.

The City of Carlsbad’s Temporary Public Art Program asked Betsy K. Schulz to paint two whimsical oversized chairs designed by Michael Stutz. She worked closely with members of the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation, and walked the trails, to determine the best design of flora and fauna to compliment their Batiquitos Lagoon location. Her concept was to create a botanical sketchbook on the chairs. Along with her assistant, artist Rachel Dinwiddie, Betsy made this vision a reality, by painting these creatures and plants with enchanting warm colors. Visitors from near and far enjoy piling onto the chairs for a perfect photo opportunity.
